World Cup 2006 Poster
"2006 World Cup Fanposter"
connects soccer fans around the globe While the 2006 Fifa World Cup® is
still three weeks away, soccer fans are already excited and warmed up
about the upcoming mega event. They started painting their faces, swinging
colorful flags and wearing shirts of their favorite teams. All this can be
seen at the "2006 World Cup Fanposter".
Goal of "2006 World Cup
Fanposter", a non-profit fan initiative based in California, USA, is to
unite soccer fans from around the globe and connect them on one giant,
colorful poster. "I love the creativity and variety in which soccer fans
show their support.
I decided to give 2006 dedicated
soccer fans from all nations on this planet the opportunity to present
themselves with their funniest, craziest or most memorable fan picture.
Why 2006 fans? Because 2006 seems to be a magical number this year", jokes
Michael Gaigg, initiator and administrator of the website
2006 fan poster
The 2006 Fanposter is indeed a
colorful meeting point for fans from all over the world. "Over 400 fans
from 57 countries have already uploaded their pictures, which is amazing
when you take into account that only 32 teams are actually qualified for
the 2006 World Cup. And there is still room for many more fans from many
more countries.
The poster becomes a real
testimony of peaceful globalization. I would love to see fans from all 240
countries expressing their love for soccer and support their countries."
Besides the entirely free
service of uploading pictures, dedicated fans can also post a cheer
(supporting statement), a webpage link and submit their vote for the
upcoming World Cup winner with Brazil as the current leader. "One great
feature of the webpage is the ability of sending messages to other fans.
We see greetings being sent across the continents, new friends being
made and old friends explored. Believe it or not, the majority of fans are
female and I can see quiet some flirting going on."
"It is wonderful to see so many
happy faces. Every morning I open the webpage and click on the poster to
see newly subscribed fans with their cheers. I find it extremely exciting
to see the poster grow." says Michael Gaigg who further explains:
"Visitors of the webpage enjoy
clicking other fans placed on the map in order to see their profiles and
leave them a comment. Many browse fans by their country and also vote for
the _Fan of the Day_ which is being elected daily."
The ultimate goal of the
founders is to hang the completed poster at the final game in the
Olympiastadium in Berlin. Partner Gerhard Muthenthaler, owner of
erfinder.at, a company specialized on innovation marketing and based in
Berlin, Germany, provides support to establish this goal and is currently
determining the perfect size and location.
